Another Political Blunder Raising the Debt Ceiling
66
Have you ever wondered why these people who we put in office continue to let us down one political season after the next? Its almost as if the American people are being held hostage by rogue leaders who only goal is to protect their own selfish interests.
With the raising of the debt ceiling and a drop in the country's credit rating the future looks grim. Both parties, I believe are responsible for this mess that has become the American economy. Republicans refuse to compromise while democrats continue to point fingers instead of providing real solutions to the crisis. What a bunch of cry babies. The president has looked much more like a puppet than a leader. He continues to play both sides of the aisle without weighing the consequences.
Mr. president grow some will power and challenge your fellow leaders to do the same. America needs a real shot in the arm. The country is broke and time is running out. We can't continue to spend money we don't have, it's not in the best interest of our economy or citizens.
It is us, the American people who loses in all of this. Our mortgages began to go up, pensions starting slipping away, and our ability to survive becomes that much more harder.
In United States, there are now more than 45 million people who are collecting governments benefits or food stamps. This stretches across all racial backgrounds which represents nearly 15% of the population.
Americans are really suffering all over the country. It is hard to watch. I myself has recently felt the pressure of the failing economy as my bills has increased and my hard earned money continues to benefit greedy bankers (The Federal Reserve).
I am not a conspiracist by any stretch of the imagination. I'm only a concerned American. What ever happen to American exceptionalism? Have we lost our great pride to stand up for what is right and hold these corrupt politicians responsible for their actions?
Instead of pointing the finger at each other, I believe we need to look at the real enemies which are these political liars who continue to steal our trust with their cheap campaign rhetoric which does nothing but destroy our ability to think outside of the box.
I can continue to ramble on but, it will do nothing to solve the problem so its best I wrap this up. The last point I will make is that raising the debt ceiling will not solve the country's financial problems. Ending wars that should have never happened in the first place would be a good place to start. The Iraq war has caused the United States billions of dollars and thousands of American lives. How long will America continue down this destructive path?
The country needs a solution to the financial crisis, not a quick patch up damage control strategy which is what we have at the moment. What is your concerns regarding the American debt crises? Please leave your feedback, I look forward to hearing from you.

Upping the debt ceiling doesn't fix things, but not raising it, dramatically worsens things. Basic economics man.
raising the debt ceiling simply kicks the can down the road but as politicians have continued to kick the can it has become larger and harder to deal with; eventually it will not be possible to deal with and the economy and nation we love will crash. Economics and the free market as we have are driven by supply and demand. If left alone the problem will bottom out and the free market will rise once again. However, all of the attempts to boost the economy are quick fixes that will not last in the long run. Thus, quick fixes are not fixes at all.
Remember what happened last time they decided to let it bottom out? Ever heard of Hoover?

Brilliant Hub, I loved the last bit about the war and how we should end it. I too find the wars a pathetic and both un-winnable excuse to send our troops to perish.
Although, I am from England - in our country, the government (Conservatives) are rash on cutting everything. Now the country is up in anger over loss of pensions, unemployment, tax and just the need for money.
Voted up.
